En la calle Paso del barrio de Balvanera, se encuentra esta importante Sinagoga, inaugurada en 1927 con la presencia del Presidente de ese entonces, Don Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear; sin embargo, podemos ubicar sus inicios en 1884 cuando un grupo de Judíos inmigrantes de Rusia y Polonia deciden iniciar el estudio de los textos sagrados en Buenos Aires, considerándose a esta iniciativa el primer instituto de educación judía del país.

La entrada es imponente por sus grandes arcadas que conducen a una enorme puerta de madera que a su vez permite entrar a la sinagoga. Cuenta con capacidad para cerca de dos mil personas sentadas. El templo posee treinta y tres rollos de la Torá, muchos de ellos adornados con motivos de leones y coronas.
